sarah canadine bayne
As an artist, I am interested in color and texture. By using acrylic paints and
various media (found objects, collage, and the like) I create artwork that is
beautiful and uplifting. Art has a unique opportunity to ground and brighten us
up in a world where so much is demanded of us on a daily basis. Art is
meditation in the viewing and for me in the creating.

I take inspiration from the world around me -- light hitting the wall near end of
day, spring blooms, coral reefs, even the baseboard in the hallway. Art occurs all
around and as an artist, it is central to my work to bubble the unnoticed to the
surface. My paintings are influenced by the colors of Mark Rothko, the surface
texture of Joan Mitchell and the collage work of Matisse.

I am an ambidextrous painter. Recently, I've been exploring in a very conscious
way the use of right and left hand. Using my
right hand or left hand exclusively I
create paintings that contrast in style, use of line and color based on how each
hand responds to the painting.

Art has the power to change a space, to change how you feel. It is a  investment
in your well-being and personal space. I have been painting over thirty years. My
commitment to creating beautiful works of art grows every day.
